With one entrance tucked away on Mitchell Lane (the other on Mitchell Street) we came across this pub when leaving a neighbouring one and decided to pop in for a drink.

Its long traditional bar is impressive and I was torn between what to drink before settling on my usual boring vodka and lemonade. Afterwards I saw they were promoting the new apple flavoured Smirnoff so I shall be back to try it. My boyfriend had his usual guinness and the chap behind the bar was nice enough to tell him to take a big sip so he could top it up for him.

We found a cosy little wooden table up in the corner and chilled in the bright relaxed bar. We were meeting others elsewhere but I would have been quite happy to settle here for the evening. I've heard it is packed when their karaoke is on but it was pretty quiet when we there with the TV subtly playing the background. A nice, traditional down-to-earth pub.

Not one for the real ale fan but a reasonable enough range of drinks on offer, plenty of seats, affable staff and a generally old school pub atmosphere achieved, at least on the Saturday afternoon I nipped in whilst waiting for a mate's train to arrive at Central Station. Looked a good bet for a few drinks & catching a match on the tv too.

I had the pleasure of ending up here a while back on my friend's birthday night out during one of the previously mentioned karaoke nights. Sadly it wasn't packed, but almost completely empty, providing further embarrasment for the few customers as the flashing lights and cheesy tunes blared out. Hats off though to the compere who sang with poise and dignity, despite obviously feeling like a tit.

It's always been quiet on other nights I've been passing bar a few slippery looking characters. Shame as it has potential.
